Many VOCES students are adults. Some have always wanted to take lessons but never had the opportunity. Some are returning after school, family, work, or life placed singing in the background. Others perform regularly and want more reliable technique, greater freedom, or expert preparation for what comes next.

Wherever you are beginning, you will be met with respect, curiosity, and a clear plan. Adult voice lessons at VOCES are serious without being intimidating, structured without becoming rigid, and personal without losing technical depth.

    VOCES faculty uses evidence-based vocal pedagogy to help you understand what you are feeling and hearing. Exercises are selected for a purpose, then adjusted according to how your voice responds. You will learn not only what to do, but why it helps and how to recognize progress independently.

    No single genre, sound, or career goal is required. Your instructor will help you develop healthy coordination while honoring the musical identity that brought you to lessons.

Adult Lesson Options

  • Performance Plan

    Four 45-minute lessons per month | $340 monthly

    A strong fit for most adult students seeking consistent technical development, repertoire work, and performance confidence.

  • Mastery Plan

    Four 60-minute lessons per month | $400 monthly

    Recommended for adults who want more comprehensive work, are preparing substantial repertoire, or have advanced artistic and performance goals.

Your Initial Vocal Assessment determines the most appropriate plan and faculty placement. Private study with Dr. Santelices is offered separately, at a different rate, and is currently available by waitlist only.

Community for Adult Singers

Private training does not have to feel isolated.

Adult students are part of a growing VOCES community. In addition to two main concerts each year, VOCES offers community experiences and special 21+ karaoke nights where adults can sing, connect, and build confidence in a relaxed setting.

Performance is encouraged according to readiness, not forced. Some adults come to VOCES because they want the stage. Others need time before sharing their voices. Both paths are respected.

  • No. Adults can develop coordination, musicianship, confidence, and artistry at any stage of life. Your training will be adapted to your current voice, health, experience, and goals.

  • That is completely welcome. The assessment and first lessons are private, supportive spaces. You will not be expected to arrive sounding polished or feeling confident.

  • No. VOCES faculty works across classical, musical theatre, contemporary, pop, jazz, mariachi, and other styles. Healthy coordination supports many musical directions.

  • Yes. Depending on the timeline, lessons can address repertoire choice, technical preparation, interpretation, diction, stage presence, and audition strategy.

  • Absolutely. A professional standard of instruction does not require a professional career goal. Singing for personal fulfillment is a meaningful reason to study.
